Election ReformPublic Citizen has long fought hard to ensure that all Americans have the right to vote, and to have their votes counted. We have worked on the Help America Vote Act, and other similar legislation. Currently, we are fighting to give DC residents the representation in Congress that they deserve. For information about our previous campaigns, please see our archives.
More than half a million people live in the capital of the United States without voting representation in Congress. Without senators of their own to call, citizens in the District of Columbia need our support to win their voting rights. Last week, over forty organizations signed a letter to Senator Reid, urging him to move the DC Voting Rights Act (S. 1257) before the elections in November. Read the letter here then take action now!
Because Public Citizen does not accept funds from corporations, professional associations or government agencies, we can remain independent and follow the truth wherever it may lead. But that means we depend on the generosity of concerned citizens like you for the resources to fight on behalf of the public interest. If you would like to help us in our fight, click here. |
